Your graphics or sound drivers might be too old to handle the game at high settings.Įven though this app is not vital to the actual gameplay, the game might fail to launch and it may display the “Grand Theft Auto V Launcher has stopped working” error if it goes corrupt for any available reason. Your computer might not be able to handle GTA V using some versions of DirectX. There might be problems with the Steam beta client. Some game files might be missing or corrupt or the game needs to be run as an administrator or in a compatibility mode. This means you will probably need to reinstall the app manually. 
The Social Club app needs to be updated and the automatic update service is not working properly. Using the wrong DXVF can result in errors, so always check the logs created in the game directory and double-check the release-notes for DXVF to see compatibility. So for me, the latest releases won't work b/c Nvidia driver 390.132 is blacklisted in later releases. In my case, I have a Nvidia GTX1060 using driver v390.132, which works uptil DXVF version 1.5.1.

So anytime any of the steps from this point on go wrong, copy the backup over to the above directory where it was copied from and you should be restored to this step.
